What we expect: Conscious house care (including care for plants) and dedicated pet sitting for 1 dog. Our home: our flat is suited for 1 person or maximum 2 as a couple. Not for families. No other pets, no kids, no ad hoc guests (friends/family) or visitors we don't know are allowed in the house. We welcome Nomadors who are experienced with big, active shepherd dogs, preference given to those with a car.
About our pet: Yumi (5) is a female stray adopted from Romania as a puppy. She’s smart, sensitive, eager to please those she trusts. As a Malinois mix, she is strong and alert, so she thrives on routine, clear boundaries, gentle voice and playfulness. At home, she is calm, cuddly, relaxed. She forms strong attachments but needs 1–2 days to accept new carers before she becomes cuddly / playful (don’t take it personally). Yumi is well-trained with commands (any language is OK — she follows gestures + good energy), and is happiest if she feels secure walking close to her carers.
Under Swiss law, Malinois are never allowed off-leash outdoors nor play with kids she doesn't know — no exceptions. As Yumi is also afraid of …

Care routine: Feeding: 2x daily, Walks: 1 short AM walk, 2–3 longer walks (30–40 min), 1 a short walk before bed.
House rules: Clean and tidy, weekly plant care, no loud music, parties, smoking, vaping, or drugs (not indoors, nor on our balcony or in stairwells).
Safety check: We ask for proof of your personal liability insurance policy, and a passport copy of Nomadors before allowing a house sit. We provide a house manual and we spend a day showing you around and seeing how it goes with Yumi, to make sure all is well.

We are seeking carers for our dog, to stay in our cosy 1 bedroom flat in Ascona, Ticino, Switzerland.
Our home is quiet, 2nd floor flat in a green suburban area (elevator access). 1 private bedroom + bathroom, living/ dining, loggia overlooking communal garden, modern kitchen, free laundry & guest parking. High speed internet. Dog walking on flat trails, beaches, parks just down the street. 5 mins walk to charming old town, local bakery, cafes, bistros, lake, beaches, supermarkets. Mountain & forest hikes 10 min car drive. Busstop 50m away to Locarno (10 min) central train station, hospital etc.

Another beautiful stay at the lovely Ascona apartment, with their sweet girl Jumi. Madelon left maps/brochures for treks & activities to do in the area and was very welcoming. Jumi and I had lots of adventures, exercise and maintained her routine She is a sweet girl, with a gentle disposition and easy to please. It was a pleasure to watch her and their home. The region is beautiful and I would definitely recommend this stay/sit.

Not only is Jumi an extremely sweet dog, but Madelon and her partner are absolutely wonderful humans. They were very welcoming, kind, accommodating and easy to communicate with. Their home is clean, equipped with all the essentials and is within walking distance to amenities. I thoroughly enjoyed my time exploring with Jumi - she's a great little adventurer, who appreciates a gentle and patient approach. I would highly recommend this house/pet sit and I look forward to see Jumi and her humans again!

Already before our arrival in Ascona, the communication with Madelon and Naomi was great! We were well informed and well prepared and were happy to finally meet them and Jumi for a great lunch and a bit of time together. Naomi and Maddy easily inspired trust, as they are very friendly, funny, and open minded. We easily felt at home. Getting to know Jumi was a beautiful, sometimes challenging, but rewarding process! She is a bit afraid of men, and has her own quirks, but patience and love gets you anywhere. It’s super fun to go outside with her for a hike or play in the park/at the beach. It’s important to listen to her needs and communicate clearly with her, and respect her rhythm and habits. Jumi has a rich personality, she will certainly make you laugh, and she has endless cuddles to give and receive. We miss her a lot :) In short, we had a really good time! During our stay, Madelon and Naomi could easily be reached for questions or silly photo-exchanges. Oh, and let’s not forget: their appartment in Ascona is clean, spacious, comfortable, and has a lovely downstairs neighbour. It is very well-situated, and the area of Ascona is incredibly beautiful with many many options to spend your time relaxing or adventuring. (Don’t miss the chance to take Jumi to the beach, and try the Swiss Zweiffel lentil chips!)
