Needs and animals

We are a small farm on a small island in the Caribbean.
We have 3 horses, 4 dogs and about 20 free roaming chickens.
Two of our dogs (German Shepherd mix and a CavaPom) are indoors while you are not at home and at night. The other two (Chihuahua mixes) are “porch dogs”. This is a common situation in Puerto Rico. We do bring them in during storms or times of special need.
All of the animals get fed twice per day, 8am and 5pm.
The dogs may run the property at their leisure, under supervision and awareness of the boundaries.
It’s very likely once the dogs get to know you they will want to sleep with you. This is not a requirement for the stay but only ask that you gently remind them where their “own bed” is.
At this time no animals are in medication.
We have a greenhouse and extensive gardens and plant friends that will need watering during dry periods.

We can arrange accommodations for you to stay longer if you desire and the full month is also not required. We like to have 2 days with you to get acclimated with the farm, before we depart. This trip dates are flexible. Let us know what you have in mind.

We are in a quiet neighborhood (aside from the chorus of roosters, frogs and occasionally dogs) set apart from town yet still convenient to all necessities by just a few minutes. Often times late at night you can hear the ocean waves from the front porch. We do have a water view but are about 5 minutes from the nearest beach. We get both sunrise and especially gorgeous sunset views. Our fruit farm is about 2 acres with a quarter acre paddock separated for the horses.
Vieques is not for everyone. It’s a little rough around the edges. Not all of the conveniences you may be used to are available here. There are no corporate businesses or night life. Grocery stores close early and are sometimes short on stock. It’s small and limited and that’s why we like it. The less expectations you have, the happier you will be.

Tourism and Leisure

Vieques is especially known for one of the world’s brightest bioluminescent bays. Mosquito Bay.
We have access to almost 100 pristine beaches. With wildlife and natures preserves and historical sites to visit like the Sugar Mill Ruins and the Bunkers, you surely will not run out of adventures, (if you choose to leave the farm).
We often spend days and days just enjoying our own little piece of this paradise.
