I have 2 cats, Jip a British Short Hair, and Noortje is a Siamese. Especially Noortje loves to cuddle. Jip does too, but he needs a little bit more time to get to know you.

I expect house sitters to make sure there is always fresh water, enough food and that their cat litter is cleaned regularly. And that they love to cuddle with cats of course! They really are the sweetest things, and would never bite or scratch you. I expect house sitters to take an effort to get to know them and pay a good amount of attention to them.

They are not used to (small) children, so I prefer solo or duo house sitters.

Noortje (the Siamese) is already a bit older, and she is a nervous cat. She doesn't like change and she doesn't like it when I am not there. This sometimes results in her pooping/peeing outside of the litter box. But she has been doing really well the last year. But it could happen.....

Besides this they both are quite vocal, they meow during the day and in the middle of the night. Bring your earplugs!

I am departing on Sunday August 16th in the evening, you are welcome to arrive anytime that Sunday or the day after on Monday. Then we need to arrange a handover for the key. I come back in the evening on Monday the 24th, so ideally you would stay until Monday but if you would like to leave a day earlier that is fine too.

I live in a newly build apartment in Amsterdam Osdorp, this is right outside of the City-Ring. My view will be on a canal, but that isn't actually there yet. The area is live in is being upgraded, it used to be a very poor and neglected area, but many new houses are being build and the area in general is being renovated an updated. It is a 2 bedroom apartment with a large living/kitchen area, 80m2 in total. It has a good size balcony facing South, it is on the 3rd floor, with elevator and I have a parking spot available in the garage. It also has a large enclosed communal courtyard. NOTE: I have moved houses in August 2023, so reviews prior to this date are of my previous home. My kitchen is a well equipped kitchen as I love cooking, the kitchen counter tops are quite high though, 102cm. Feel free to use everything in it, as well as all my spices and condiments. This area has everything you need, it is next to a popular shopping area with 4 large supermarkets and many other shops to enjoy.

It is right next to Sloterplas where in the summer you can sail, sub or even swim. The whole area is quite green, and invites for nice strolls.

It is a little outside of Amsterdam's city center, but public transport is around the corner to take you there. It also has a direct bus connection with Schiphol Airport.

Because the area is in development many restaurants are popping up. Also the theater the Meervaart is closeby, where they have dance, music and many more entertainment on offer.

Every Tuesday there is a local market to enjoy.

Tourism and Leisure

Outside of the busy city center of Amsterdam. It is really a residential area with basically no tourists. But it is bussing, as I live right in the central shopping area of this neighborhood.

Go and visit the Molen of Sloten, this is really a must see! I actually volunteer here as a tour guide :) You can walk there, and next to it is a fabulous cheese shop (open Wednesday to Saturday).

Eelkje juste avant de prendre l’avion nous a reçu très chaleureusement en prenant le temps de nous donner les consignes pour notre gardiennage. Son appartement très spacieux au calme où rien ne manque est situé dans un quartier chique avec tous les commerces à proximité. Le centre d’Amsterdam est à quelques minutes en prenant le tramway. Jip et Noortje sont 2 chats adorables, Jip adore la compagnie il était toujours près de nous, que ce soit dans la pièce de vie ou sur le lit quand nous y étions en venant chercher des caresses de temps en temps, Noortje quant à lui gros dormeur était toujours collé à Jip, nous les avions tous les 2 roulés en boules toutes les nuits et bien sages. Amsterdam est une perle pour les visites, nous avons aussi apprécié les villes et villages environnants ils ont beaucoup d’attraits également Grâce à Eelkje, nous avons passé un séjour formidable que nous recommandons vivement. Eeklje has sweet adorable cats, and a lovely apartment. She is friendly, and easy to communicate with. The place was very clean, stylish and comfortable to be in. Walking distance to all kinds of shops and the metro. Would definitely recommend cat sitting for her.

Eelkje has been our very first host when we started the cat-sitting adventure in 2022; since then we've visited Jip & Noortje many times, and our affection for them kept growing. This time we had the privilege to stay with them for 3 months, and they've truly become like family. Three months flew by in the blink of an eye, and every moment I felt grateful to be with them. True angels. We could never thank Eelkje enough!
