Needs and animals

Many plants | Big garden | Vegetable patch | 1 Cat

We have a 20-year-old Norwegian cat, Modjo, who comes and goes freely via his cat flap into the garden. His bowl needs filling once or twice a day. He is very affectionate and truly enjoys company. We are looking after him for our daughter, who received him from a friend some years ago. We do not know his full history, but we believe he may have been badly treated, as he does not like to be picked up. He is, however, a gentle presence in the house and thrives when someone is around.

Alongside caring for Modjo, we would really appreciate a little help keeping the garden well tended during your stay. There is an automatic watering system, but some manual watering is still needed, especially for the pots and younger plants.

From time to time this may include:
• Mowing the lawn if it needs it
• Watering plants in pots and planters
• Light pruning or deadheading to keep things tidy
• Sweeping the terrace or pathways
• A general eye to keeping the garden looking cared for

Nothing too demanding. Just the kind of small, regular attention that keeps everything thriving. If you enjoy being outdoors and taking pleasure in maintaining a garden, you will feel very much at home …

House

Our house was built in the late 19th or early 20th c. It features a large lounge/dining area and kitchen that gives directly onto the patio and a large garden. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, each with a double bed. The house is situated in a small village in the heart of Brie about 15km from Fontainebleau. Apart from the famous Fontainebleau castle, there a castles at Vaux-le-Vicomte and Blandy-les-Tours. A CAR IS ESSENTIAL! There is no public transport. There are supermarkets about a 10-minute drive away and an excellent bakery in the next village. The station at Fontainebleau-Avon is a 12-minute drive away. The half-hourly train takes 40 minutes to reach Gare de Lyon in Paris. There are several forests nearby, and the river Seine is 10 minutes away by car. Our home is cosy. It's in the heart of a small village with little traffic. It's really quiet here. Our lounge has big sofas around a fireplace with a large LCD television in the corner with access to several platforms. We have superfast cable wifi. My office can be used if a desk is required. We live in a small village with no shops, so IT IS ESSENTIAL TO HAVE ACCESS TO A CAR, as walking to the supermarket is not possible. We have many friends in the village if there's an emergency and help is required.

We are so happy and grateful to Sebastian and Sylvie for giving us the chance, even though this was our very first Nomador experience. They are such kind and welcoming people, so the communication was excellent, and their instructions about Modjo and the house were clear and helpful. Modjo is a wonderful cat with his personality that melts your heart once you get to know each other. We truly fell in love with him and enjoyed every moment of caring for him. The house, garden, and surroundings were a perfect match for our lifestyle, and we loved our stay to the fullest. We would absolutely recommend staying in Féricy, and would be delighted to come back if our paths cross again in the future.

We loved our stay in the beautiful and peaceful house of Sebastian and Sylvie. And this garden!!! Our hosts were good advisors: recipe with the vegetables of the garden, places to visit, answers to our questions… We thank again Sebastian and Sylvie for their trust, our first experience with Nomador has turned into a really good memory. Now, the most important: Modjo!! This cat is a cream. Sweet, he warbles more than he meows. Not at all fearful, he automatically went by the side of our guests least comfortable with animals. What a laugh. We miss him!
