Brussels

We have one lovely male cat named Oskar. He is 3 years old, quite big and very sweet. He is quite social and loves people so he needs some attention/play during the day. We give him a mix of wet and dry food two times a day. His water fountain only needs to be topped up once a week or so. He can be fussy about his toilet so we make sure to clean it once a day.
Rebecca loves plants so there are small house plants all around the apartment, most of them need water 1-2 times a week, depending on the season.

We are leaving for Sweden on 31 July (early morning) and returning late in the evening on 15 August. We need someone to take care of our cat Oskar during this period. It would be best to arrive on the 30th so we can show the apartment and explain a few things. Let us know if you're interested to spend a couple of weeks with Oskar in Brussels.

Our cosy triplex is situated in the heart of Brussels' European Quarter, on the second and third floor of an old Brussels house from 1909, entirely renovated in 2022. It has excellent insulation and a new heating system with separate thermostats in every room - very warm in winter!
The open kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge/freezer, induction hob, oven, dishwasher, Italian espresso machine with freshly ground coffee, and a gravity filter for fresh water.
In the living room, you'll find a 50" Samsung The Frame TV and an excellent stereo system streaming from Spotify/Apple Music - or try our small vinyl collection. A lovely Jotul wood burning fireplace adds extra cosiness in winter. Downstairs there is also a small toilet.
Upstairs, a spacious bathroom features two sinks and a bathtub with rain shower, plus a washing machine/dryer, ironing board, iron and hairdryer. There are two bedrooms: one with a king size bed, one with a sofa bed (140x200cm). The master bedroom is at the back and very quiet. The small bedroom leads to the attic, used as a music room. Electric blinds on all Velux windows make both spaces very dark at night.
We love vintage furniture, so expect plenty of Danish midcentury pieces, especially in the living/dining room. A well-stocked bar with full cocktail-making equipment and tons of books complete the picture.
Two small standing balconies overlook the square - a lovely city view that is hard to find in Brussels.
The apartment is a 5-minute walk from Parc du Cinquantenaire, one of Brussels' largest parks. Metro station Merode (lines 1 & 5) is also 5 minutes away, reaching the Centre in 10 minutes, with a direct line to the Central train station and one stop to Schuman. Tram 81 (right in front) serves Flagey, Châtelain and Bailli. Brussels Airport is 15 minutes by train from Schuman.
The neighbourhood has everything you need, including the Barn - one of Brussels' best organic shops - right across the square. Many shops are open on Sundays. Merode and Place Jourdan offer excellent shops and restaurants within a 5 to 12-minute walk

Having lived in Brussels for over 15 years (Rebecca at least), we think this location and our place would be perfect for exploring the city's culture, music and vibrant diversity. It is also convenient for visiting other great places in Belgium by train or car for the occasional day trip (we recommend Ghent, Brugge and Leuven).
