Animals with specific needs | 1 Dog

Charlie spent two years in the dogs' home, so is a little quirky, as with most rescue dogs - he is eager to please, but can be mischievous and needs a lot of attention, as well as being very anxious when in a new environment or when left alone. He is now roughly 10 years old. He adores humans and is only mildly interested in other dogs.

The sitter(s) need to be prepared to be mainly home-based due to Charlie's needs, as sadly he is now showing early signs of doggy dementia/cognitive dysfunction syndrome, which makes him more anxious and aggressive (but his treatment/specialist kibble has brought him back to his usual self). He should only be left for a maximum of an hour.

I live on the edge of town so it is a semi-rural location. As I live at the top of a fairly steep hill you will need to have a good level of fitness - I walk and cycle everywhere since I can't afford a car/it's healthier - or have your own transport. The house is a two-bedroom terraced property has a park immediately to the rear, but the nearest supermarket/shopping centre is only a 10 minute walk away and the main town centre is about a 25 minute walk away.

Olhão used to be a major fishing port but is now more of a tourist destination, famous for its cube-shaped houses. There is a Saturday market which takes place at the marina, next to the two municipal market buildings - people travel from all over the Algarve to visit it.
