🐱 Meet Croqueta & Groucho
We share our home with two rescued cats who have very different personalities.
Croqueta (13 years old)
Croqueta (although we all call her Cruqui) is a tiny 13-year-old cat with a very gentle personality. Once she feels comfortable, she loves cuddles and is surprisingly talkative.
With new people she may be a little shy at first and prefer to observe from a distance. Usually, with a little patience, she gains confidence quite quickly.
She eats very little (like a little bird!) and spends a good part of the day enjoying peaceful naps.
Groucho (4 years old)
Groucho is a young rescue cat who was bottle-fed before joining our family. He's incredibly curious, expressive, funny and full of personality.
He loves supervising everything that happens around him. If you're cooking, tidying up or unpacking a suitcase, he'll almost certainly come to investigate.
He's also a bit of a drama queen. 😂 If he wants to play, eat or simply wants your attention, he'll make sure you know about it. Playing with people is one of his favourite activities.
Because he was bottle-fed, he never fully learned how much pressure is too much during play. When he's excited, he may grab your hand with all four paws …

Because he was bottle-fed, he never fully learned how much pressure is too much during play. When he's excited, he may grab your hand with all four paws and give it a strong playful bite. It's never aggressive, but we recommend using toys rather than your hands when playing with him.
About them
They have very different personalities. Groucho would happily play all day, while Cruqui would much rather enjoy another nap. 😄 Their relationship is funny to watch: Groucho is always trying to convince her to play, and she patiently lets him know when she's had enough.
We're simply looking for someone who enjoys spending time with cats, giving Cruqui cuddles (when she decides it's cuddle time 😊) and playing with Groucho every day.

Special needs
Overall, caring for Croqueta and Groucho is very easy. Their routine is simple, but there are a few important things to know.

💊 Croqueta's medication (very important)

Croqueta has hyperthyroidism and needs a liquid medication every day.
Ideally, she receives it twice a day (morning and evening).
If this is exceptionally not possible, the full daily dose can be given once a day, but splitting it into two doses is strongly recommended by our veterinarian.
The medication is given with a small syringe directly into her mouth.
She's actually very easy to medicate. Sometimes she may try to hide when she sees the syringe, but once you pick her up, she stays calm and takes it without any problem.
This medication is extremely important. Missing doses can cause a rebound effect and may have serious health consequences.
🍽️ Feeding
Their dry food and fresh water are available all day.
We replace the water once a day.
We also refresh the dry food once a day, even if there is still some left.
Once a day they each receive half a can of wet food.
Because Groucho always wants to finish Croqueta's meal, they need to eat separately:
Groucho eats in the living room.
Croqueta eats on the patio.
Once Croqueta has finished (or eaten as much as she wants), Groucho is allowed onto the patio to finish whatever she has left.
Every morning they also share one Churu treat (half each).
🌿 Patio
The patio door stays open during the day whenever someone is home.
At night we close it before going to bed, making sure both cats are safely inside.
Croqueta usually comes in very easily.
Groucho sometimes likes to explore the neighbouring terrace or sit on the wall, but he can almost always be persuaded to come back with a little ham or a Churu.

House

🏡 Our home
Our home is a cosy ground-floor apartment with a spacious private patio, something quite rare in Barcelona.
You'll have access to two comfortable bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower, and an open-plan living room and kitchen, creating a bright and welcoming space to relax after a day out.
The patio is definitely the heart of the house. We spend a lot of time there reading, enjoying meals outdoors, having a barbecue or simply relaxing. Our cats also love spending time outside. The patio has been adapted so they can enjoy it safely. Groucho sometimes jumps onto the neighbouring terrace (his favourite observation point!), but it has no access to the street or anywhere else, so the outdoor space is safe for them.
The house is equipped with everything you might need during your stay, including high-speed Wi-Fi, Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, board games and even a guitar if you enjoy playing music.
We hope you'll feel at home here.

Tourism and Leisure

Our home is located in Horta, a quiet residential neighbourhood in Barcelona. We love living here because it's peaceful, while still being very well connected to the city centre.
We're just a few minutes' walk from Valldaura metro station (Green Line, L3). From there, you can reach Gràcia in about 10 minutes, Eixample in around 15 minutes, and Barcelona's historic centre in about 30 minutes.
Horta still has a very local feel, with neighbourhood cafés, bakeries and restaurants where you'll mostly find local residents rather than tourists. We'll be happy to recommend some of our favourite places if you'd like.
