Istanbul

My cats are Yağmur (pronounced 'yah-mur', which means 'rain' in Turkish; female, age 10) and Gri (which means 'gray' in Turkish; male, age approximately 8). They are healthy, playful, friendly, talkative, and highly affectionate. They are very closely bonded—they play, sleep, and eat together seamlessly. They are neutered, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and collared.

The cats are very low maintenance and require no medications or special diets. They each receive an individual bowl of wet food mixed with a small amount of clean water. (For this, please use the small faucet on the right side of the kitchen sink, which provides purified reverse-osmosis tap water.) They also share a communal bowl of this purified water and a bowl of dry food. They are generally not interested in human food, but they occasionally play with bread, so you may want to keep it away from them. Cat litter is changed completely once a week, but you can use your discretion on that a bit.

One bedroom apartment in the Kadikoy area on the Asian side of Istanbul. The apartment is on the first floor of the building. Includes a robot vacuum cleaner, fridge/freezer, cooking supplies, washing machine, reverse osmosis faucet for clean drinking water, drying rack, large bed, stovetop, oven, blender, coffee grinder, French press, and living room area with direct sunlight for work. Ideal for digital nomads and single travelers.

Below are the house rules:

🏡 Apartment Safety & Security

• Locking the Door: Always lock the apartment door when you leave, as it does not lock automatically. The hallway and main building doors do lock automatically. Even when you are home or sleeping, keep the front door locked so the cats do not sneak out.
• Key Warning: Do not forget your keys when stepping out! Because the main and hallway doors lock automatically, you will get locked out. (I like to leave my keys inside the lock on the inside of the door when I am home so I don't forget).
• Fire Safety: Please keep the heater, stove, and oven unplugged when they are not in use and whenever you leave the apartment.
• Smoking: The apartment is strictly smoke-free. If you wish to smoke, you must go completely outside the building.

🐈 Cat Safety & Access

• Windows & Terrace: Please keep the apartment windows closed, as the cats may try to sneak out. However, the terrace door must always remain open so the cats can freely access their litter boxes and fresh air.

🛑 Personal Spaces & Boundaries

• Food, Wine, & Spices: Sitters are fully responsible for providing their own food and beverages. Please do not drink any wine or use any spices, sauces, teas, oils, or foods found around the apartment without asking for permission first. Some are reserved for special occasions and my own cooking.
• Vegetarian Household: As I am a vegetarian, please ensure that any meat products you bring into the apartment are completely cleared out and disposed of before I return.
• The Wardrobe & Storage: The wardrobe doors must remain locked using the key attached to the house keys. This keeps the cats out so they do not scratch or break items of sentimental value inside. However, you are completely welcome to use the wardrobe hangers and the drawers underneath and next to it for your clothes.
• Off-Limits Items: The wooden Arcadia Vineyards box and the red box located below my meditation altar contain fragile, important personal items and must remain closed at all times.
• Refrigerator Temperature: I prefer to keep the temperature in the fridge on its coldest setting so food does not spoil. You are welcome to adjust it while I am gone, but please make sure to switch it back to its default standard setting (5) right before I return.
• No guests allowed, as per the Nomador policies

Kadikoy is a vibrant neighborhood full of cafes, restaurants, galleries, bars, and live music. The local outdoor vegetable bazaars, cheese shops, wine stores, and small markets are great for food shopping and cooking. There are plenty of pharmacies and many people speak English. Easy access to ferries, metro, buses, taxis, and other modes of public transportation. The area is very safe, including at night and for women and foreigners. There are many restaurants (both Turkish and international) in the area or that deliver to the apartment through apps. You will find the area friendly, welcoming, and walkable. You will also have easy access to Taksim and historical sites, such as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia.
