We are a retired couple, originally from the UK, now living permanently in France, with our two cats.
Shanti, is big tabby boy aged 7 and is very affectionate. He quickly makes friends with new people and likes to come on your bed but he doesn't like loud noises. Unfortunately he is not very fond of Sasha as he wants all the love and attention for himself!
Sasha, a pretty white female aged 4, is much more reserved and may take a couple of days to get used to new people in her house. But once she knows you she is very sweet and loving.

The cats share a tin of wet food in the morning and the have dried food for the rest of the day.
Normally they do not need any medication. In the summer months Sasha has to have sun cream applied to her ears every morning, which can be a bit of a performance.
They have cat doors so they are free to come and go as they like. They do not need to use a litter tray, unless they have to be kept in for some reason.

Additional information about these dates

We ask house sitters to arrive in the afternoon in order to spend some time together. The next morning we ask to be taken to the railway station. Our car will be available for use if you have a valid driving license. We return by the early evening on 6 January and once we have been collected from the station sitters can leave straight away or stay on for an extra night.

House

The house is a modern bungalow, with open plan living, dining area and kitchen. There are three bedrooms, a shower room and separate toilet. There are electric radiators in all rooms but no air conditioning (electric fans are available in hot weather). We have a smart tv and high speed internet.
Outdoors, there is a garden in front of the house with tree and shrubs and a seating area on the terrace. At the back of the house there is a dining area outside the kitchen, various pots of flowers and herbs and a grassy bank with trees at the top of the slope, a haven for birds and cats! There is room for parking at the side of the house off the road.
The house is in a small, quiet road of 14 houses and is 10 minutes walk to the centre of the village where there are several shops.

Tourism and Leisure

The village is in attractive countryside, with rolling hills and plenty of opportunities for walking and it is also near the Canal du Midi. Although the village has some small shops you need a car to go further afield. Towns with supermarkets, cinemas and other amenities are 15 miles drive away. There are lovely markets to visit in the area.
The cities of Toulouse and Carcassonne are within easy reach for day outings and a little further away you have the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees.
