Needs and animals

1 Dog | 1 Cat

Tauwhu (pronounced “Taofou”) is a calm five-year-old cat with a few little routines of his own. He spends much of the summer outdoors and tends to stay inside more during the winter.

Bamako is a friendly, playful seven-month-old Australian Shepherd. He needs two good walks every day, one in the morning and one in the evening, ideally along the Serine, the river just below the house. After a good morning walk, he can stay home during the day. He is also welcome to join you at cafés and restaurants that allow dogs.

Tauwhu currently prefers to avoid Bamako, so they have separate spaces: Bamako spends all of his time downstairs in the living room and kitchen, while Tauwhu has the upstairs bedrooms as his own space, where he can feel safe and comfortable.

Please keep Bamako downstairs so Tauwhu can enjoy the upstairs in peace. Tauwhu can come and go through the upstairs windows, so please check in the morning and evening whether he wants to go out or come back in.

For Bamako’s walks, the easiest option is to keep him on the lead for about 500 metres. After that, there’s a path through a nature reserve where he can run off lead …

The riverside path is lovely: it runs for several km beneath the trees, with no roads to cross, and he often meets friendly dogs there.

Additional information about these dates

We are living early on the 24th, and ideally we'd like house sitters to arrive at least one day before we leave so we can go through instructions, get to know the pets, explore the neighborhood... and spend some time together

Tourism and Leisure

Our home is in the quiet village of Vich, with a supermarket just 100 metres away and easy access to the motorway, about two minutes by car. Nyon is around 10 minutes away, and St-Cergue about 30 minutes.

It’s a convenient base for enjoying the area throughout the year. You can go hiking in the Jura and around La Dôle, or enjoy snowshoeing and skiing in winter. La Dôle is a nearby, small ski area, and French Alpine resorts such as La Clusaz, Le Grand-Bornand and Les Gets are roughly 1 to 1.5 hours away by car, depending on traffic and weather.
