Needs and animals

Animals with specific needs | 4 Cats

Our cats are varying degrees of friendly.

Cider is VERY friendly and wants to boss you around and also be your best friend.

Paloma can be shy, but she is also very sweet and loves pets.

Skye can also be shy and wary of new people. She loves to play once she warms up and can be bribed with treats.

James is VERY shy to everyone. You won't see him in person much, and you definitely won't be able to get close enough to pet him.

All cats get some metamucil and probiotic in their food for breakfast and dinner.

Paloma also has asthma, and she has an inhaler that we give her before breakfast.

Typically, we give them 2 cans of food in the morning, and 1 at night. If you're going to be out a lot, then we'd ask you to leave them a bit of dry food in their slow feeders while you're gone during the day, and to add a little bit more to the dry feeders at night.

Skye and James do not get along currently and stay completely separated. Skye gets the run of the house during the day, and at night she's in our bedroom with us …

We also have ferals outside that we TNR (trap, neuter, release) and we would ask that you leave food/fresh water for them once a day.

We typically as our friend to come by 1-2 times when we're traveling, in order to water our plants and (if you want) give you a morning or evening off from taking care of our crew.

House

Our home is a townhouse in Brooklyn, NY. It's 3 stories. You would use our bedroom, which is on the 3rd floor. We have 3 roommates, one on each floor. You would share the kitchen & bathroom with one roommate (the other two share a different kitchen/bathroom). The living room/laundry room are shared by everyone in the household. Our roommates are all women in their 20s. Two of them are going to school (Ines for a masters, Axelle for a phd). Angel is a lawyer. All of them are out of the house for much of the day, though the two in school have schedules that vary, depending on course load. We personally only see the roommate on our floor regularly (Ines), the other two we don't run into much. Ines gets up around 7am most days to get ready for school, so she may be in the bathroom/kitchen between 7 and 8am. At night, sometimes she cooks and sometimes she orders in, but she may be in the kitchen at that time, and then in the bathroom getting ready for bed around 10pm. Typically, when we have sitters, we create a whatsapp for our roommates, ourselves, and our sitter(s), …

Typically, when we have sitters, we create a whatsapp for our roommates, ourselves, and our sitter(s), for easy communication (we also have a separate whatapp for ourselves and our sitter(s)). Most communication centers around if anybody is available to pick up a package outside.

If you had an emergency our roommates would be able to help with the cats, but we typically don't ask anything of them, because they're our cats, not theirs. : )

You'll have access to our bedroom (which has a huge projector screen you can watch in bed), the kitchen & full bathroom on our floor, the living room/dining room on the first floor, another living room on the garden level, and the laundry room on the garden level. We also have a back patio that you're welcome to use if you smoke/vape.

Our bedroom suit is very large, approximately 27'x12'. The bed itself is in the smaller, interior area. It has curtains in the archway between it and the rest of the bedroom, so that you can keep the bed very dark when you're sleeping. It also helps for watching things on the projector, even during the day.

There are several nearby subway stops, within a 10-15 minute walk. The 3/4 at Utica in one direction and the C at Ralph Ave in another direction.

We have FiOS for fast internet and our bedroom Roku already comes with Prime Video, Netflix, And Apple TV. You're welcome to add your own streaming services as well. If you do and forget to remove them when you leave, we'll be happy to do it for you.

Tourism and Leisure

We're in a primarily black working-class neighborhood. Nearby are your basics, a grocery store right around the corner, nearby drug stores, delis, and liquor stores.

A short subway ride away is Franklyn Ave, which hosts many restaurants, bars and shops.

Seamless/grubhub/etc all deliver to our home and there are over one hundred to choose from. We have a list of specific restaurants that we order from the most, if you're interested.

Being NYC, there's a ton to do and if you have questions, we'd love to answer them. In terms of attractions, we're closest to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and Prospect Park.
