Needs and animals

2 Cats

We have two cats; both need to be fed twice a day, their water bowl kept fresh and their litter box cleaned out. Nova is 11 years old and very sweet, and Finch is 3 years old and full of energy!

Other than that, cuddles and playtime as much as you want! They're very affectionate animals.

House

We live in a two-bedroom (we use one as an office) apartment in a classic tenement-style building in the New Town of Edinburgh. It's recently refurbished and very cosy with a full-sized bathroom and bathtub, a double bed and an open-plan living room/kitchen. There is room for another person in the office on a blow-up mattress if needed. Our home is small but we take great care in making it a comfortable and cosy place to spend time. We're home birds when not travelling so have plenty of books and board games to keep you entertained. Leith Walk is a bustling part of the city, filled with quirky coffee shops and vintage stores. The local restaurants boast all sorts of cuisine and there are about 5 pubs within two blocks of our front door! Less than 15 minutes walk up the hill you'll find George Street and Prince's Street, as well as the St James shopping centre and the main theatre. A wee bit further is the wonderful old town with the castle and a million small lanes to explore. We live right along the tram route and most main bus routes pass us as well, so getting out and exploring is …

Tourism and Leisure

Edinburgh is a gorgeous city filled to the brim with cobbled streets, hidden cafés and packed bars. There are plenty of tourist attractions you'll find on the top 10 lists; like the castle and whiskey tours! We also love the ghost tours in the hidden vaults under the city, as well as just wandering the streets and getting lost in the history that can be found in every nook and cranny.

A little further afield you'll find hiking in the Pentland hills or strolls along the beaches that surround Edinburgh. With the central train station just 20 minutes walk from the house, day trips to Glasgow or further north are always a possibility too!

I really enjoyed my stay, the flat is in a good spot, and is cosy and Finch and Nova are really lovely, friendly cats, who I will miss ! Communication could have been a little better during the stay. It also seems that I didn't leave the place clean enough although I think I left it perfectly fine (and the vaccum cleaner was a struggle to use) if not cleaner than on my arrival. I really appreciated the girls being so friendly still, and being ok with my dad visiting. Thank you for your trust! Overall very good experience !

Riley and Becca were very welcoming and hospitable. Nova and Finch are very friendly, cuddly kitties and I was very happy to look after them. Edinburgh is such a beautiful city and I was very grateful to be able to be there during the Fringe festival; their apartment is cosy and in a good location close to the main city. Would gladly sit for them again!

Paris, France - May 2025
