Needs and animals

Big garden | 1 Cat

We have a senior cat. She is basically an indoor cat, who likes to visit the outdoor spaces on our property - she does not roam. She is timid, but will warm up to quiet, kind approaches. She meows to go out and come inside. We have an Enlish-style perennial garden that needs some dead-heading and weeding, but we have a garden service for the lawns.

House

Character century home in a seaside village on Vancouver Island. Fair-sized perennial garden in front, and small courtyard-style back garden. A century ago, Chemainus was a bustling mill town and still has a small mill operation. It is about 15 minutes drive to a larger centre (Duncan, BC). Grocery, pharmacy, liquor store, pub are a 5 minute walk away.

Tourism and Leisure

In the heart of the Cowichan Valley, there are many lovely forest walks, and lots of more vigorous terrain for hikers. Specialty farming is a feature of the area with local markets weekly. The Cowichan River is a world-famous fishing destination (salmon, brown trout and steehead) and whale-watching is available locally.
