Needs and animals

2 Cats

Oban and Raziel are two Norwegian Forest Cats. They usually spend their days outside in our garden and in the neighborhood roaming and relaxing. They enjoy cuddling and come for attention every now and then. But beware: Raziel loves to take a good nap on your lap and Oban needs his cuddles before going to sleep at night!

Both of them are healthy and happy cats. They have ‘unlimited’ access to dry food, and at dinner time they share a can of wet food. You’ll make friends for life then.

Both of them wear gps-trackers. They normally come in before dark, but if not you can use the gps to see where they hang out and call them with some treats. The trackers will need to be recharge every once in a while.
We have a cat door with a timer, which opens and locks automatically.

It could be nice if you could check the mailbox. Watering indoor plants only once or twice a week. We have a nice garden with a couple of trees, that ends at a little canal, where you can enjoy looking out at water birds and fish. Lots of birds visit our garden, too. We usually have some …

House

We live in a nice neighbourhood of Warmenhuizen, in the North-West of the Netherlands. Our house is basically detached, however our garage is attached to the neighbour, and v.v. There is room to park one car on the drive. From the front you can enter the house and the garage (electric door). The down stairs floor contains a large living room, with TV (Netflix, Apple TV, no regular TV canals), dining area and kitchen (fully equipped with gas hob, electric oven/grill/microwave), fridge, freezer, dishwasher. We have a separate pantry where we store most foods, and from there you enter the utility room, where there you find a washing machine, dryer, and most garden stuffs e.g. parasol, garden cushions, and cleaning equipment. We have a Ukrainian cleaner that comes in every Friday to give the house a basic cleanover. You can enter the garden from the dining area, pantry and utility room. We have a nice back yards with trees and shrubs and a lawn. The garden runs down to a small canal, and it is nice to sit there and enjoy the sounds of the birds. The garden runs down to a small canal, and it is nice to sit there and enjoy the sounds of the birds. We have three terraces, and you are free to use both the bbq grills (Weber and Green egg-style).
NB. There is no fence to prevent small children (or adults ;-) from falling into the water of the canal. That is why we do not open the house to families with small children.

Upstairs, there is one main bed room with a large bed (180x210) that has a large balcony with deck chairs. There is also one library room, which is mostly used as a yoga room and Reiki practice. The third room contains a work space and our clothing. The bath room is equipped with a shower, bath, toilet and bidet.

The attic has another bed (160x200), and another workspace.

We have 3 bikes and 1 e-bike at your disposal.
You are free to read books, play the piano, use the Wifi.

Tourism and Leisure

We live in a village in a rural area, from where you can do all sorts of activities, culturally as well as sporty.

It is nice to go walking and/or cycling to the beach and high sand dunes of School and Bergen. The area is famous for the polders with wide views and old historical dikes. All coastal villages are nice to visit and spend your sunny days or late sunsets.
You could visit the old center of Alkmaar (15 mins drive, or go by bike) and see the old historical buildings, go for a boat tour, and do some nice shopping and end your day in one of the many restaurants or bars.
The old towns of Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Medemblik ar about 30-45 mins drive away.
Amsterdam and Haarlem are nice to visit. Possibilities to take the train into the city center from Alkmaar-Noord.

In Warmenhuizen, there are some restaurants if you prefer to go out for dinner. The supermarket, butcher and bakery are less than a 10 minute walk from the house. It is a small village, but with some nice shops where you can treat yourself.
