Although you will be staying in our log cabin, you will be staying down at the house during the day time to look after our 12 house dogs who live here with us, our tortoises, ducks and geese. We have a small flock of sheep, one pig, five hens and two old dogs. They will all require feeding and watering twice a day. The two dogs ( old boys rescued from the city streets) who are here for a good and quiet life with food and love and walks.. They were both badly abused whilst living on the streets so now one is deaf and the other has just one eye!! Despite all of this they are sweeties and our aim is to give them love and stability in their old age. In between the feeding and walking routine's we have a large swimming pool for you to cool off in and relax by!!

We are a small farm approximately 18kms from Ourique which is our nearest town. We have a two bedroomed house but our house-sitters will have full use of a log cabin on our farm. The log cabin has two bedrooms, a lounge with wood burner and English TV. A fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom is outside and has a large shower and loo!! It has a deck area with stunning views of the countryside. We are very rural but just a fifteen minute drive from town, supermarket, chemist, banks, cafes and restaurants. We have lots of cd,s and dvd,s a swimming pool to chill in. Ours is a home from home. However the main thing for us is that you are here to love and care for our large brood of animals in our absence. To maintain their well-being and help them not to miss us to much!! This is a job for genuine animal lovers. We are in the countryside, outside living is a way of life here, just going indoors to go to bed at night!! It is a peaceful and tranquil environment. We are just 15 minutes from our nearest town where there is supermarket, chemist, banks, cafes, restaurants, health centre. You will need …

You will need a hire car as public transport is very restricted with just three buses per day. With a car you will be able to explore the Algarve an hour's drive away, the stunning west coast an hour and twenty minutes. Local towns and lakes and gypsey markets will all enhance your stay in Portugal.

As we have already said an hour's drive to the Algarve. One hour twenty minutes to the stunning west coast. Local lake ten minutes. Although we are rural there are lots of places to visit near and not to far away. Lots of local cafes and restaurants you will be spoilt for choice.

House sitting for Julies’s and Glynn’s animals and looking after one part of their little farm “Quinta Azenha” was such a pleasure and a privilege. They gave me such a warm welcome and went to great lengths to make sure I would be comfortable during my three week stay in their cozy log-cabin up on a hill and 300 m away from their main buildings where another house-sitter was taking care of the other part of the property. They provided clear instructions on all relevant subjects and were always available and very responsive when I texted them news or questions. Julie and Glynn are blessed to live in a 3 ha property with big swimming pool situated only 800 m from the nearest village. I recommend the experience in the log-cabin for animal-loving people who are patient and flexible and like to work a couple of hours per day in a countryside environment. Thanks for this rare opportunity and I look forward to a continuing friendship.
