My cat is easy going, but likes to get some cuddles from time to time. She eats dry food mostly, but needs to get wet food once a day, half a box. The other half can go in the fridge. She likes to eat candies twice a day, and the odd catnip (not too often). She does not have a catdoor, but she likes to go outside some times. In that case you will need to open the door for her, and close it again when she returns. The duration of stay outside depends on the weather. Since it will probably still be cold in March, she may want to be out for only a minute or two at a time. Her toilet is in the bathroom, which needs to be cleaned very other day. She usually sleeps on the bed or in her own little bed on the sofa.

She will appreciate you being home to pet her and make her feel safe, but of course during the day you can go out and enjoy life in and around Stockholm.

My plants also need to be watered (especially the flowery ones).

House

My house is a small cottage (40m2) in a village just north of Stockholm. It is located in the garden of a larger villa, where the landlord lives. The house is very cozy, but small, has a fireplace and a large garden. It takes a bit less than an hour travel by public transport to central Stockholm. In the area of the house is a lake and forest. It is a cozy place to retreat into if you want to spend time by yourself, but it is still close enough to enjoy Stockholm. I have a reasonable amount of books in English, Dutch and Swedish, many focusing on spirituality and/or philosophy. I also have a little craft-cupboard with woodworking things, which you may use if you are into woodworking. I made some furniture myself (the bookshelf and lamp), which are fragile so need to be handled with care. The fireplace can also be used (with care of course), and I have a cast-iron pot and teapot that can be put on the fireplace if you would like old-fashioned cosiness. It is a simple house. There is a supermarket 20 minutes walk from the house, 5 minutes by bike (which you may borrow). Larger shopping malls can be found in Täby, which is two stops with the light-rail, but it takes 5 minutes to bike to the light-rail. Depending on snow and ice it will be more or less difficult to move around. Stockholm is 25 minutes by light-rail where you can do anything. In general my home is located in a quiet village area.

Tourism and Leisure

Go for a walk in the forest, check out the lake, go into Stockholm to the Vasa museum, fotografiska, stroll around in Gamla Stan. If the winter holds, go iceskating on any lake where a track has been made, go on an iceskating tour, go cross-country skiing (they made a track on the golf-course next to the village), or downhill skiing (for the resorts you will have to travel a bit, but there are two small ski-places around Stockholm).

I had a great stay at Annelies' house and really enjoyed my time in Sweden. Her home is cozy and surrounded by peaceful nature. Kim, the cat, was also a pleasure to be around—friendly and easygoing. Overall, meeting Annelies was lovely, and, for instance, I could definitely see myself returning in the future!
