House

We live in Mirepoix, a small medieval town/village. Everything you might possibly need is locally available and we have the best ever market every Monday morning. Mirepoix is between Carcassonne and Toulouse. The place is charming and quiet, surrounded by stunning countryside, just over an hour away from the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. The house is large and comfortable and right in the center of the Bastide, on the main square, next to the Marie. There are many restaurants, bakers, butchers, a Carrefour in walking distance, a good medical center close by.

Tourism and Leisure

Mirepoix is on the Cathar trail. It is a medieval place and surrounded by wonderful medieval villages and towns. Toulouse and Carcassonne are the cities close by. There are many English, Belgians and Dutch who have settled and lived here for years. The local French could not be more accommodating and friendly. Christmas will be quiet but the Bastide will be lit up with fairy lights and a glittering tree. We have lived here for three years and fell completely in love with Mirepoix and the Ariege. The way of life is second to none.
