Needs and animals

Animals with specific needs | 5 Cats

The kitties are house-trained and well-behaved, and largely look after themselves during the day. However they do enjoy/need cuddle time and affection, especially in the evenings. This is the main reason we'd like to have someone stay at our place, so the kitties can have affection, as they're very attached to their humans. Tavi and Cricket may need some time to get used to newcomers, but the other 3 are all very affectionate and will approach visitors on their own.

Feeding:
Two of them were adopted as feral kittens, so we have a special feeding routine so that they don't overeat or eat the others' food.
Luna and Bao eat upstairs, a combination of wet and dry food.
Tavi and Cricket eat downstairs, also a combination of wet and dry food.
Sasha eats downstairs, dry food only.

Medication:
Additionally, Tavi needs to take high-blood pressure medication twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening. He's very good about it, as he gets it inside a treat! He loves it.

We would leave more detailed instructions in writing to keep track of this.

Additional information about these dates

We're flying out of Chicago on May 15 and coming back on the 29th. Ideally we'd love for you to arrive 1-2 days before our departure to show you around and make sure you have everything you need. Also to get the kitties acquainted with you! Two of them (Tavi and Cricket) can be a bit shy at first, but they're very sweet and will be very affectionate once they get to know you. We also have some flexibility in that we have friends and family who can stay over during the first week of our trip, so if you're interested in a shorter stay we can coordinate and see if we can work something out.

House

We live in quiet, comfortable duplex-down in the Albany Park neighborhood. The apartment is large (especially by Chicago standards). The apartment is 2-bathroom, 3-bedroom, including a guest room. We have 5 affectionate kitties: Bao, Tavi, Cricket, Luna, and Sasha, so we wanted a place where they could feel comfortable and have plenty of space. Convenient location close to public transit (one block), downtown accessible by L train (approximately 30 minutes). Supermarkets and great restaurants within walking distance. Quaint Lincoln Square only a few train stops away, although we often just walk there. We have a nice south-facing balcony facing some lovely gardens--in the summer we love having dinner there on our own or with friends. We have a Roku TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime which guests are welcome to use., as well as the library. There are nightlife options within walking distance in nearby Lincoln Square and Ravenswood, plus tons of summer events easily accessible by public transit. We've been in this apartment for almost 2 years and really love it. Tree-lined street is quiet and close to public transit.
