Ruby is a 50 pound female (fixed) lab/husky cross. Ruby turned 4 at the end of August and like most young dogs she has lots of energy and needs/likes going for walks, hikes, loves a good game of fetch in the backyard, playing boisterous games of tug of war..and in general being a dog! Ruby gets along well with other dogs has fairly good manners and understands many commands. Twice a week a dog walking company picks her up and takes on hikes with other dogs. She is a real sweetie that if allowed will give you lots of kisses and cuddles in return for your love. If she has had a vigorous walk/hike/play she is quite happy to cuddle on the couch and Netflix binge! We adopted Ruby from a local rescue in Feburary 2016 and like most dogs has her own little quirks and does best with someone who has experience with dogs. Ruby does well left at home for several hours. Ruby gets overly excited/nervous around children and wants to herd and keep/keep them in line. As for our house we ask that your be respectful of it, our belongings and that everyone is a non smoker. Take out the trash and recycling, water the house plants, contact us or our handyman is something goes wrong. We like our neighbours and they like us, this is a quiet,laid back family neighbourhood (with a local pub just down the street)

Additional information about these dates

We depart from Vancouver on December 28th but will most likely need to go the night before. If you would like to to spend Christmas in Victoria there is a possibility we could make the house available or have you stay with us or help you make accommodation arrangements. We do want to meet you before we leave and give you some time to get to know Ruby. If you are not able to stay till we get back we could most likely make arrangements with lots of notice.

Lovingly restored 3 bedroom 2 bath family home in the beautiful Harbour View area in the town of View Royal. View Royal is located in the Greater Victoria Area. Our home is on a 1/4 acre lot on a quiet cul-de-sac surrounded by trees,birds and nothing by th sound of silence at night. Access to parks and beaches are a 5 minute walk away. On the main floor you will find 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, all new modern appliances, a well equipped kitchen, gas fireplace to keep you cozy in the winter. In the basement there is another bedroom,bathroom with a large deep soaking tub, laundry area and a large den with a projector T.V. Gas fireplace in living room, new refrigerator with filtered water and ice, 2 person tub. Outdoor hot tub to soak your bones after a west coast hike. We have a nice deck off the living room with a BBQ. . Victoria's weather is unlike most of Canada in that you can BBQ year round. The backyard is now home to an amazing maintenance free hot tub. There is anTV in the living room and bedroom and a projector TV downstairs. We have lots of board games, books. The main floor is open plan through the kitchen, dining room and living room.

We operate a tourism based business therefore have lots of information on what there is to see and do. . Butchart Gardens is one of Victoria's most well known attractions and is beautiful year round. The Greater Victoria Area has hiking and bike trails galore, a fantastic museum, kayaking, whale watching and an indoor tropical jungle. A vibrant music and art scene and wonderful coffee shops, bakeries and a variety of restaurants to suit anyone's palate.

It was a pleasure to care for Sue's well-loved rescue husky/lab Ruby. Sue has devoted considerable time and energy to train Ruby and Ruby has responded beautifully. Ruby is playful and loving and curious and attentive and a lovely companion to explore the gorgeous trails and beaches and woods in her neighbourhood. Sue and David are generous and accommodating hosts. Highly recommended.
