Needs and animals

Animals with specific needs | 3 Dogs | 1 Cat | 1 Farm animal

We have three dogs, two older crossbreeds and a 4 year old border collie. There is also a cat. They all live in the house and are quite friendly. The collie is a bit nervous and you need to allow him his space. He is not aggressive but may snap if you overcrowd him, it is better to let him come to you or throw sticks for him which he loves!
The main things are keeping their food and water bowls topped up, taking them on lots of supervised short walks on the land, unfortunately you can't just let them out, and generally keeping them company, also they occasionally have accidents inside which will need cleaning up and general sweeping and tidying up. You will have to take them out first thing in the morning, but can go back to bed after, and last thing at night.
There are also two pet sheep but they don't need much more than hay if it's snowy although they might try and convince you that they always sleep in the house!

Additional information about these dates

I haven't yet booked the flights but need to soon! I would like to spend a few days together with the housesitters first to show them everything and for the animals to get used to them then afterwards there is no problem being a few days after we get back.

Slightly quirky, self built home 8km from the main square in Coyhaique the capital of the region in chilean Patagonia. Set in 10 hectares of land, it is rural but still near to the town the best of both. The house is heated by a wood burner, which also provide the hot water so potential house sitters will need to be happy lighting and maintaining the fire especially since it will be winter. Our house is not luxurious, it is more rustic and for people looking for that type of stay. We have lots of books, satellite tv, playing cards and there is lots of space! It will be winter and may be snowy. Our house is 8km from the centre and 4 km from the edge of town set up on the valley side with open north facing views of the Patagonian scenery. We need housesitters, I think two people would be better than just one, who are reasonably self sufficient and don't mind keeping the fire going and the jobs that involves. The house is peaceful and would be good for people who like things like reading, watching tv, relaxing there is also internet available shared from a mobile phone which …

The region is beautiful with forest, lakes, glaciers, fjords...for nature lovers Patagonia is a great place to visit. The city of Coyhaique has about 70,000 inhabitants and is a good size not too big, not too small! There are lots of good (but not culinaryly special) cafes, restaurants and bars and sometimes have events or shows. This is definitely a house sit for people who are looking to relax and get away rather than those who like a more cosmopolitan atmosphere and amenities.y
