We have 2 cats and 4 chickens. They all need feeding twice a day [though often get more, which is not necessary but they enjoy!]. The chicken coop door needs to be closed at night after they have put themselves to bed, and opened in the morning. The cats have a cat-flap and come and go as they please. The work required really isn't much and you'd be free to go out and about during the day for long periods of time.
It would be nice if you could water the plants in our pots & greenhouse every other day or so.
The mail-box should be checked every other day.
The house is a lovely 5 bedroom modern barn conversion in a beautiful rural setting, in a small hamlet.
The garden is about an acre but really needs no maintenance. We mow the grass weekly but it would not matter if that were not done for a couple of weeks.

Large modern barn conversion [it was a Grainstore]. Large glass doors at the front with bifold doors make it bright, with a lovely view, and give a feeling that the garden is part of the house!
In an acre of a garden - mostly lawn but with shrubs and trees and a small stream at the bottom of the garden [which only runs during the winter or after a few days’ rain].
In a small and friendly hamlet.
No shop but 150 yards from a gorgeous country pub.
15 minutes from Dorchester, 30 minutes from Sherborne, 30 minutes from Weymouth beach.
Good walks from our front door.

Tourism and Leisure

In a lovely little hamlet in the Piddle Valley, we are surrounded by Dorset's beautiful rolling countryside. There are many walks from our front door, using pathways including the Hardy Way and the Wessex Ridgeway, to some really amazing and far-reaching views of the landscape. It takes only about ten minutes to walk onto the nearby hills, and longer walks using the larger walking routes can be joined from there.
There are a number of interesting and pretty nearby villages such as Cerne Abbas, Puddletown, Minterne Magna, Maiden Newton, Cattistock and Evershot.
The nearby towns of Dorchester and Sherborne are stylish, with good shops, and have lots of interest.
Weymouth's fabulous beach is 30 minutes away.
A little further away are the coast including Studland, Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Abbotsbury.
Also some attractions such as The Tank Museum and The Monkey Sanctuary are about 40 minutes away.

Anthony and Virginia are wonderful hosts. They provided us with very detailed written information about their home and the care needed for their pets. We spent 2 very pleasant weeks at their beautiful home looking after 2 friendly cats and 4 chickens.
