Needs and animals

Animals with specific needs | 2 Dogs | 4 Cats

I have four cats who are very independent and two dogs who are very friendly. The cats all go out via the terrace on the 1st floor, from where they can access the woods behind the house. The dogs need to be walked twice a day. I would like the house sitter to look after my pets, water the plants, and keep the house tidy during your stay.

House

My little house is in Mirabelle Aux Baronnies, a very pretty village on the Rhone wine route through the region. Surrounded by truffle woods, vineyards, olive groves and lavender fields - a little slice of paradise with a balcony overlooking a truffle wood. The house itself is very unique. It looks like a typical stone, Provencal house, but it is also built into the natural earth of the land, so the back of the house, on the ground floor is like a cave-room. This room is the bathroom, with a shower. It is very cute, but the height is limited to around 170cm. The house is made up of a dining room, kitchen, lounge, and one bedroom upstairs, plus a pretty terrace. There is a delux, double sofa bed in the lounge, and a double bed in the bedroom. This house would suit a single person or a couple. There are hiking trails from the village into the countryside, and there are wine domains within a short distance. A car is best for this location to get to the nearby towns including Nyons and Vaison La Romaine have have a market on Thursday and Tuesday. Mirabelle Aux Baronnies is a lovely historic …

Mirabelle Aux Baronnies is a lovely historic Provencal village . There is a nice cafe/restaurant, bar, bakery, post office, local small super market and there are regular food trucks. The area is popular with cycling and hiking. We are located between the town of Nyons and Vaison La Romaine. Other towns with 1.5 hours include Orange, Avignon, Gap and Valence. The countryside is on the doorstep of the house, with a lovely river walk, vines and olive groves.

Tourism and Leisure

As this is Provence you are surrounded by vineyards and wine producers...visit them and do a wine tasting. There are local tours of the area also to see the landscape of olive groves and lavender fields. The town of Nyons is 8km away...this is a pretty town with a market on Thursdays...lovely old square with restaurants and shops.

I received a very warm welcome from Sian. Our initial contact through the website and then by phone quickly established a connection. She is a dynamic person who gives her complete trust, which I was honored by. The four cats are totally independent and live their lives as they please, both indoors and on the rooftops. The adorable little house is nestled into the rock, as if to snuggle up even more comfortably. The region is magnificent, and my hiking legs were able to tackle part of the ascent of Mont Ventoux. Located right between Nyons, famous for its PDO olives, and Vaison-la-Romaine, with its medieval site, I highly recommend this haven of mountains and dramatic cliffs.

We spent a great week at Sian’s cute cottage in the company of her two adorable dogs Benji and Pepito and her four lovely cats. The village of Mirabelle-aux-Baronies is well located for breathtaking walks on the doorstep and visits to nearby towns and villages. Benji and Pepito enjoyed their twice daily walks by the river & through the vines and were good company as we relaxed in the evenings. We had a nice time catching up with Sian on our arrival and enjoyed the dinner she prepared for us to have together and she gave us lots of recommendations for making the most of our stay. Thank you, Sian, for your welcome and kindness & for giving us the opportunity to look after your home and pets!

Sian was the perfect host and her animals are just lovely. Had so much fun to explore the beautiful region with her two dogs. Amazing view from the terrace. Highly recommended.
