My dog needs to be taken on a good walk every day, after breakfast. The nature surrounding the village is so beautiful, that it is always a pleasure. Then in the late afternoon, we usually go for a little walk again, and last thing at night before going to bed, we go out to pee in the field just behind the house.
As I work from home, she is with me the whole day, and is used to sleeping on my bed...basically a lot of human contact...cuddles, kisses and kind words, never any punishments or hard words! This is very important for me, I want her to be treated extremely well with lots of love... so please, only true dog-lovers need to apply!

My house is a newly renovated typical Portuguese house. It has 2 rooms, each withown bathroom, a modern kitchen, and a large, sunny terrace. The nearest beach is around 2 km away, and the village itself has several great restaurants, cafe's and small shops. The nature around is stunning and includes Cabo da Roca, the most western point of Europe, and the beautiful and mystical Sintra Mountain, full of old palaces and monasteries... My house is full of books, and of course you can also use the internet . I will also gladly let you use my car (provided you have a driving license of course). As I normally have guests staying here (I rent out a room B & B style), I have many guide-books over the area & general information about the local sights. I live on the edge of a small, rural village, in the beautiful countryside at the foot of the magical Sintra Mountain. The beaches here are rated amongst the best in Europe, and are popular with all kinds of beach-lovers & surfers. Beautiful, magical Sintra is 7 km away, with its many palaces, castles and monasteries, and Lisbon (and the airport) 30 km away. Here in the …

Cabo da Roca (most western point of Europe), and 15 km from here is a "must" with its beautiful nature and lighthouse. At Praia Grande you can find dinosaur footprints that are millions of years old, embedded in the rock! Sintra (7 km away in land) has numerous palaces, museums, castles and other things, too many to mention... it is the most magical & romantic place in Portugal without a doubt! And Lisbon, only half an hours drive away offers everything a city can offer, plus its special style and beauty...

This was my first petsitting opportunity. I was unsure how it would go but this was better than I expected. Marianne was thorough in explaining what was required. The dog is a sweetheart. I was asked to come again next year and am seriously considering it. Wonderful experience.

I had a wonderful two-week stay taking care of Honey, the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. Marianne was incredibly welcoming and friendly. She took the time to show me around the village and introduced me to her neighbors and friends, making sure I had a support network in case of any emergencies. Her instructions for Honey’s care were clear and detailed, and she was always available to answer any questions, maintaining great communication throughout my stay. When she returned, she kindly took me out for a lovely dinner and even brought back some chocolates from her trip. I would absolutely recommend housesitting for Marianne and caring for Honey!

It was the perfect housesitting! Marianne greeted me very warmly, invited me to a local restaurant for dinner, showed me the village, area and she introduced me to her neighbors. Marianne is very nice and wise woman with good energy. I had two lovely dogs to care for: Bobby - older, wise and easy going, Honey, who was young and always full of energy, and a sweet cat Sasha. They were wonderful companions for me in everyday walks. The house is located in a beautiful part of Portugal, Almocageme is a unique village with very nice and helpful people. The beautiful mountains and beach are just a short walk away. There are some very good local restaurants, cafes, shops and the local market. Throughout the sit, communication with Marianne was always easy, fast and efficient. I felt completely welcome and recommend this Sit highly and would love to come back in the future. All in all, a fantastic housesitting experience! Thank you so much Marianne, Bobby, Honey, Sasha! I will miss you!
