Montreal

We have a 4 year old male goldendoodle (about 80lbs), hypoallergenic, doesn't shed. He is very easy going and friendly, completely a love bug at home (wants to cuddle all the time), he is amazing with people. His only problem is he is AGGRESSIVE towards other dogs so we'd need someone who knows how to walk a big dog and who is able to restrain him when necessary. This is the most important thing, please reply to us letting us know that you read about this issue and are OK with handling it.

What we usually do is we never walk him during prime dog walking hours (we take our morning walks between 10am-12pm depending on our schedule and evening walks sometime between 7-8.30pm) to avoid seeing other dogs as much as possible. When we see a dog coming towards us, we change the side of the street, try to lure him away with treats but it doesn't always work so the person has to be strong enough to pull him. He never attacked another dog, he just barks and bolts, but we never get that close to another dog, just to be safe.

He doesn't bite or destroy anything, he is not super energetic so a 30min walk in the morning, 45min-1 hour walk in the evening and a little play in the middle is enough for him. (we also take him out once before we go to bed just for pee). He doesn't cry when he wants to go out, he just waits until you wake up in the morning no matter how late it is. He doesn't have separation anxiety, as long as you give him a treat when you leave the house he's ok with being alone for even long hours (though he would still like you to be around, golden doodles are very social dogs and want to be around people as much as possible). He doesn't have any health problems besides a couple of skin allergies.

We want to emphasize that we are looking for people who would LOVE him like we do, and not just dog-sit him & feed and walk him 3 times a day. He will want to lick you, cuddle you on the sofa and on the bed, and we want him to be loved the same way when we’re not here.

Overall he's the loveliest and most easy going animal, besides the other dogs thing :)

Our dates are firm but we can leave our dog with a friend for a short period of time to meet your availabilty in case the exact dates don't work for you

3 bedroom ground floor apartment, 1 bath, open kitchen. There are 2 floors (2 houses) above us but all the entrances are separate. Our main door opens to the street. In the heart of Mile End, which is the hippest neighborhood in Montreal. Subway 15 mins away, buses going around every 5 mins, downtown is 15mins bus ride away. Abundance of restaurants, cafes and shops all within couple of minutes walking distance. The house is not on one of the main streets, it's quiet all day. The main bedroom looks at the patio (not to the street), very quiet. Second bedroom is a study (window looks to the street), there is a big desk & chair as well as a reading nook near the window. Third bedroom is a smaller and darker storage room, with the possibility of a guest bed. Private patio with BBQ, hammock, daybed, and dining table big enough for 10 people. We have wifi and cable tv. Kitchen is equipped with oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, blender etc practically everything you may need - we love cooking at home. Washer & dryer in the house. Bathroom has a shower and a tub. Childgate at the door to protect dog from running outside.

You can enjoy the city every day, if you want to walk around the neighborhood there are endless things within walking distance (besides mile end, other hip neighborhoods plateau, mile-ex, villeray, outremont are all walking distance) and downtown (city center), old port (the most touristic, europe like area of montreal) and other hip neighborhoods like st henri are all short subway or bus rides away. the house is perfect to enjoy montreal in every single way (the mountain is also within walking distance, as well as many parks) but if you want to stay in, we have a lovely quiet patio and a nice, big house so you can enjoy staying at home too.

Since our dog is not used to little children (and since we have nude art around the house) the house is best suitable for single people, couples or families with a teenage or bigger child.

The only thing missing from Montreal is a beach and sea! Other than that you can find anything and everything you want to do here. It's one of the most beautiful and safest cities in the world, from cultural activities to award winning restaurants, festivals to street walking, bike tours to closeby hike routes, Montreal is the perfect city to spend your summer in.
