Our dog Lucy is an Australian Shepherd. She's pretty lazy when she's at home and generally sleeps under the bed or in her recliner. She's very friendly and loves being around people. She will go pee in the fully fenced backyard but she won't stay outside, she wants to be where the people are. She absolutely loves walks, so she will need one 45 minute walk sometime before/around noon and another 30 minute walk after 6pm. She's fine to be left alone for 6 hours after she's had a walk. She doesn't have any diet restrictions or medications, but we give her a glucosamine chew daily, which she enjoys. She's very smart and knows a lot of words/commands. You can set the rules if you want her to jump in bed with you or not. She will gladly cuddle if you allow her to.

We'll be out of town September 22-25 and would like to find someone to watch Lucy in our home. Dates are flexible, you can arrive early or leave later, or match our itinerary for 4 days. The guest room will be available as needed, just let us know what you're thinking.

We are offering guests a large stand alone house in a quiet cult-de-sac that's 4km (2.8 miles) from the center of Mons. There is a beautiful canal with walking trail near the house, bakeries, grocery stores, and a lovely quiet neighborhood that's still near enough to the grand mall and city of Mons. There is a private guestroom with queen size bed (160x200), dresser, armoire, and bookshelf. There are two bathrooms and two toilets - guests can choose to use the guest bathroom or the main one. The kitchen is well equipped with an induction stovetop, microwave, toaster, Nespresso, panini press, rice cooker, crock pot, and fridge/freezer. There is a pool for the warmer months, along with a grill and patio table/chairs. There is a 75” TV with an Apple TV connected so you can sign into Netflix or use our subscription services in the guest account. WiFi is very fast and you can setup your computer in a small office or wherever you choose. There is a bus stop across the street, trains at the Mons station, and we can negotiate potential use of a car or bikes. There is a bookshelf full of board games and scifi/fantasy/nonfiction/mystery/travel/cooking books. The kitchen is very well equipped. We have a gym upstairs with free weights (barbell/dumbell), yoga mats, and a rowing machine.

Within 2km there are two grocery stores, a bakery, pharmacy, and some other pizza places/restaurants. Takeaway and Uber Eats can deliver food to our house. Within 9 minutes you can drive to the grand mall or downtown Mons. The house is very large and comfortable, and is fairly easy to take care of. It has both heating and air conditioning, 2 toilets, two bath tubs, and a standing shower. Guests have their own bedroom and bathroom.

Tourism and Leisure

There are ample woods nearby to go for a hike in the forest. Belgium is relatively flat so they aren't mountainous hikes but the trails through the woods are excellent. It's 25 minutes to the Pairi Daiza Zoo. Visit Van Gogh's house near Mons. The city of Mons has great restaurants, bars, and an Opera House. The town square has various carnivals/festivals/christmas markets to visit, or if you're a history buff you'll love the museums showcasing the start and ending place of WWI.

Within an hour's drive you can get to various battlefields, see classic artwork in the museums in Brussels, enjoy the nightlife of Brussels, or see shows. Visit the beautiful cities of Belgium such as Ghent, Bruges, or Antwerp. It's only an hour to the city of Lille in France if you'd like to visit some French towns.

It has been a real pleasure to meet Elisabeth and Kyle, a welcoming young couple full of tact and delicacy. Since I don't live very far from their place, we had the opportunity to get to know each other before I took care of their dog. I came twice to accompany them on a walk with Lucy and I was able to quickly realize how easy, obedient, and kind she is : a remarkably lovable dog ! The house is very comfortable, perfectly located for varied walks with the four-legged princess as well as for the many discoveries in the surroundings. I had an excellent stay in Ghlin and I sincerely hope that we’ll see each other again. A huge thank you to this friendly trio !

Assurément un séjour très très agréable que nous avons apprécié chez Elizabeth et Kyle en compagnie de Lucy leur adorable petite amie. A dire vrai Lucy est le chien le plus attachant que nous avons eu l'occasion de garder lors de nos nombreux home-sittings ,elle est si gentille !! Elizabeth et Kyle nous ont "ouvert" leur maison en toute confiance en prenant soin que nous nous y sentions bien et en nous permettant d'accueillir notre fils pour Noël. Nous les remercions encore vivement. Ce sont des personnes avec beaucoup de coeur que nous recommandons sans hésiter .Et pourquoi pas nous revoir pour un autre séjour dans l'avenir !
