Needs and animals

1 Dog

My dog is a mix breed, small caniche type. I rescued him from the street two years ago. He is quite old (approx. 12 yrs), very gentle and easy to deal with. He can't see or hear well. He gets anxious when he is left alone for long. he loves going for walks. There are quite a few cats in the neighbourhood, but he doesn't have a problem with them. My main concern when I am away is that he has company and doesn't get anxious.

Small cottage with garden in quiet cul-de-sac, 5 minutes walk from the sea, bus stop and grocery shops nearby, next village with cafes and Restaurants 1-2 km away. Lovely for anyone who likes nature, walks and sea.

If you are particularly sensitive to dampness and cold, this may not be the right place for you. The area is known for its frequent damp and windy climate, and the cottage is quite old and not built to the latest standards. There is no central heating. I have a wood stove that makes the living room and dining room very cozy and warm. Electric radiators for the other rooms.

Tourism and Leisure

World heritage site Sintra is 20 minutes bus ride away, also Cabo da Roca and Cascais. Lisbon only 40 mins by car. Where I live is a great place for walking, be it along the cliffs, through pine woods or in the Sintra mountains. A small beach is near the house, and it is lovely in the summer although the sea can be rough and cold. Other beaches are 5 minutes away by car. Fair choice of fish restaurants and cafés with a view to the sea.
