Needs and animals

1 Dog

Hello!
We have a beautiful rural home, 5 minutes drive from the local village. We are away for the month of July, and have a 6 month old dog that needs minding! She is a mix of a Hungarian Vizsla and Labrador. She is very good, just a bit giddy sometimes as she's still a puppy. She is happy to be walked around our fields, or taken on one of the many walks in the surrounding areas. She's more or less house trained by now but it does just require a little vigilance. She sleeps in her crate overnight and generally sleeps until about 7am or 8am so no nighttime wake ups. We walk her in the mornings and then again in the afternoons, and like to take her with us when we go out and she's quite happy in the car where we can keep an eye on her or take her for a little walk rather than leaving her at home for long stretches. Though so long as she's been fed / watered / walked and done her business she's quite happy in her crate for a few hours during the day.

We live in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains, and there are lots of great walks and cafes nearby. We are about an hour away from Dublin.

In terms of the house, our heating and hot water is provided by a wood burner in the shed which requires a little explaining but it is straightforward. We have a tv with he usual subscriptions. And a piano in case that's of interest!

We would have to say no-smoking in the house.

It's a very quiet spot, but close enough to the village that it doesn't feel isolated.

Additional information about these dates

We are going away to America for the month of July. In an ideal world I think it would be great if someone were able to arrive to meet before we go, even the day before. But we could look at being a little flexible if needs be as my sister lives nearby so could potential cover some days. We can discuss anyway. Thank you!

House

Our house is an old restored farmhouse, with wide views all around. There is a garden, but no work is required unless it appeals! We have a couple of small fields that I generally walk the dog around in the morning as it gives her a good run in a few laps without having to go out in the car.

The house is all double glazed windows and there is a wood burning stove in the living room if you wanted to light a fire in the evening. Otherwise there is central heating and the house gets quite toasty when it's on. Hopefully you wouldn't need it in August but it is Ireland so you never know!

We have two children so a playroom full of toys in case that's something that's appealing to anyone!

Tourism and Leisure

In the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains, we have lots of beautiful walks nearby, including Blessington Lake which is great for walks and bike rides. There are some great villages nearby with lots of good places to eat. And an hour from Dublin if you fancy venturing further afield.

We are a 5 minute drive from the nearest village, Dunlavin, which has good local shops and a couple of pubs. There is a brilliant cafe and health food store called An Lar, which also have massages and yoga in their little health centre next door. There is a little library too. And of course we can provide information on other amenities in the area depending on what takes your fancy.

There are other villages nearby which have other great options! Again can leave a list of local things to do.
