Pool maintenance | 1 Dog | 1 Cat

We have a female German shepherd and an indoor cat. The dog needs a long walk (at least 45 mins) each morning and 2-3 additional, but brief, bio breaks per day. There is no fenced yard. She will want to sleep with you--at least in the same room. The cat is strictly indoors only and needs to be watched closely when doors are opened to avoid her escaping (coyotes would eat her!)

3 bedroom, 3 full bathroom townhouse near the University of California, Irvine with plenty of wildlife and views of French Hill. HOA has community pool, hot tub, tennis courts, and both paved bike/walking paths & open space trails right outside your door. Easy access to local shopping, 405 freeway, and Newport Beach. The vast city of Irvine consists of village enclaves connected by open spaces and malls and a vibrant university community. There are two nearby human-made lakes for easy strolls around the perimeter and, on either side of us, two open spaces with gorgeous views. Sunset Hill, true to its name, is across the street and one of the best hikes in urban Irvine. We are also within driving distance of the mountains and the beautiful beach at Corona del Mar. A 20-minute drive takes you to Huntington Dog Beach, where our shepherd loves to play off-leash. Otherwise, one long walk through the neighborhood, or at nearby Shady Canyon Trail, and a few potty breaks are sufficient daily exercise for her. Tourism and Leisure

Our home is situated half-way between Los Angeles and San Diego (one hour each way), with convenient access to the I-405 freeway. Multiple sand beaches and beach towns (Laguna, Corona de Mar, Huntington, San Clemente) are within driving distance--close enough that the sea fog rolls through our hills each morning along with peaceful birdsong, and burns off by early afternoon for a cooler summer than inland. Irvine communities and open spaces include man-made lakes, a vast number of hiking trails (a few dog-friendly), and beautiful mountain landscapes. The Orange County Great Park is a 15-minute drive and boasts summer events, a farmer's market, and numerous sports fields, including soccer, baseball, volleyball, and tennis--plus free rides on their big orange helium balloon observation deck. There are endless restaurants and events to explore from the safe and quiet hub our view home provides.

Rachel was the kindest of hosts. She made me feel at home even though I was very far from my home country and made sure I had everything I needed before leaving. She let me borrow her car which was really helpful to discover the area. Both Banu and Velma were adorable and I took care of them with great pleasure. Rachel had left me a note with some precisions regarding the house, the pets and the plants and was available for help via phone if need be. I’ve had a wonderful stay and I am really glad to have met Rachel and her family. I now have friends on the other side of the world 😉
