Needs and animals

1 Dog

I have one lovely dog - a large golden retriever mix 4 years old and such a gorgeous boy. He needs a long walk at least once a day if not twice a day, early morning & late afternoon / evening when it's not too warm. I usually walk him 3 miles each time and hes fine off lead, hes good on recall and is trained to come back to your side if a vehicle is approaching. Its mostly tractors around here but even at that you dont see too many. There are lots of walks all around the area, down narrow country roads. He is a house dog and he does sleep in at night in his own space in the utility. He is fine to let outside during the day, he doesn't roam off and he'll let you know if he wants to come back in. But l do bring him in between 12 and 4 on warm sunny days so as not to overheat. He's OK to be left in the house for max 4 or 5 hours in a day every now and again. He's a great …

He's a great traveller, loves the car.
He is fed twice a day and is generally a very happy, friendly chappy. He's very affectionate.

House

Warm, Cozy, Inviting home. Nestled in the quiet countryside surrounded by fields and trees. Only 1.5 mile from the local village. Large garden with Vegetable beds and lots of Trees, a very tranquil and relaxing environment. One small single room available with two single beds that can attach to make a large double bed. No Smoking in the house. We love our comfort so we have very comfortable furniture - beds, couch etc. It's a warm and cozy environment with everything you need to live well and be happy. It's a quiet and tranquil setting, just over one mile from the village where there's a local shop that sells all the basics and a little more. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A CAR. There are two larger towns nearby (10 minute drive), Scarriff and Tulla both have smaller supermarkets, fast food, pharmacies, cafes, butchers, community garden cafe etc The neighbours are a short walk up or down the road and are all very friendly. It's very peaceful and not too many cars pass up and down on a daily basis. The house and land are mostly surrounded by trees. I try to buy fresh produce as much as possible to cut down on …

I try to buy fresh produce as much as possible to cut down on plastic wrapping. A local organic farmer has a shop not too far from our house which is stocked up everyday with fresh in-season vegetables, teas and fruit all at great prices!
Regarding the rubbish/trash/recycling you produce, there is a local drop off centre that charges a small fee by the bag for general waste and also for recycling. There is also a local bottle bank where you deposit any glass jars or bottles free of charge. I usually try to make those trips once a week so no rubbish bags are left outside around the house.
There is a holy well across the road tucked away a little off the road. Mostly surrounded by farms so there will be cows in the surrounding fields. We've a red squirrel who lives in one of the trees and a fox couple who are regular visitors to our garden as well as rabbits & hares, lots and lots of all types of birds and pheasant families too - really its just all wonderful and we're so very lucky to be living here!
You will need to have your car as its quite isolated without.

Tourism and Leisure

Lots of Tourist spots in Co Clare - in East Clare where our house is, is the one of the centre points for Traditional Irish Music in Ireland, there are lots of sessions happening every week in most of the towns and villages nearby. There are two midweek sessions in our local village, one often attracts up to 20 musicians on a good night and has been happening weekly for over 50 years!
We are very close to Lough Gur which has many tourist and historic spots to explore.
Also west Clare isnt too far away with its fabulous beaches and also of course the Cliffs of Moher being a massive NOT TO BE MISSED attraction.
Ennis, Limerick and Galway are not far and have lots of shops, markets, museums, cultural spots to explore.

Colette was warm and welcoming and had my room very comfortably cosy and ready for me. The dogs are probably the nicest dogs I have ever met, and walking them in the local forests was stress free when they were off lead. The area is very peaceful and quiet and I think your own transport would mean you could drive about to shops, and sightseeing in this beautiful part of lovely County Clare is mandatory! Walking the verdant lanes in either direction from the house is very pleasant though, and in fact charming, especially on a sunny day. Communication with Colette was good and was information given so I could have 'what to do' plan in the event of anything happening in the owner's absence. Thanks for a great houseSit!
