Cottage-like, one-bedroom house in the mountains, 1 mile/1.6km from San Antonio downtown. Patio/terrace with great views of the central valley. The house is in a peaceful neighborhood. Entrance/gate is shared with a neighbor, but secluded enough as it on the deeper side of the property. It has a private deck, completely surrounded by nature. The house is perfect for one person or a couple (around 600 square ft (60 m2)).
You won't need A/C here, it's very pleasant temperature throughout the day. Mornings can be a bit chilly, but the house has good isolation, so you won't be cold inside. Galley kitchen is quite narrow and small, but is equipped for cooking. ,It has a 4 burner gas range and top-freezer refrigerator.
There are is one 50" TV with basic cable channels, and I also have a computer linked to it with HDMI so you can watch any internet-based .content (Netflix, Amazon Prime...).
Not an extensive library, but quite a few books, mostly in English, on philosophy, arts or just novels. I have some plants on the terrace, as well. They don't need much attention, just watering once a week.
Nearby is a popular Pico Blanco hiking trail.

The house is a bit remote from the main part of the town. The nearest shop is 500 yards down the hill. Having the car is definitely an advantage, as the road is quite steep, but it's the most beautiful area for daily walks. A bigger supermarket is another 500 yards or so away from the first one. The bus stop is 200 yards down the road. You can also use Uber to get around.
There is a weekly open market in San Antonio, but a better one is in Escazu downtown. It's on Saturday mornings. It's a great place to get inexpensive, fresh produce.

It really depends on what you like to do. My home is in the mountains, and if you like to hike, it's the perfect area for it. San Jose downtown is 30 min away by bus, for visits to any museums or sightseeing. My favorite day trip is a 1.5-hour drive to Bajos del Toro Amarillo waterfall (north Poas), Parque Prussia of Irazu Volcano (2-hr drive to Cartago area) or hike to Escazu waterfall (just 2 miles east from my place).
For cinema, Nova Cinemas in Avenida Escazu (20 min by car) is showing block busters or cine Magaly in San Jose downtown for more independent/artsy movies.
You can go to the ocean just as a day trip, but beware that the traffic can be heavy on weekends. It's a 2-hour drive to Jaco on the Pacific coast.
