Hi, I’m Melanie!

I'm usually based in Brisbane, where I live with my housemate and our cat, Meeko (who I often look after when she’s away). But from mid-September to mid-November, I’ll be travelling through Europe and the UK (on the trip I've been dreaming of doing for the last 15 years!) and looking for house sits along the way—ideally around two weeks long in quiet, beautiful places where I can work and really get a feel for a place.

I run my own digital marketing business and work remotely, so I’m home most of the day (perfect for pets who like company). I’m also a fantasy writer currently working on my first novel, so I love peaceful spaces, walks in nature, and having a little animal friend or two nearby while I write and make tea.

I grew up in the country with dogs, cats, chickens—even cows—so looking after animals and caring for a home feels second nature. These days, I find joy in the simple things: slow mornings, pottering in the kitchen, looking after plants, and having a clean, calm space to return to. (Also: I find vacuuming oddly satisfying)

What I bring:
- Experience with dogs (from active to recovering), cats, chickens, indoor/outdoor plants, and gardens
- I’ll be home most of the day—great for pets who need extra love or company
- Calm, tidy, respectful presence (your home will be spotless when you return)
- Happy to water plants, collect mail, put bins out, and send updates if you’d like.
- Genuinely love settling into new places and making pets feel safe and cared for

UK & Europe: mid-September to mid-November (sits around 2 weeks are ideal)
