As a couple/duo
We’re a couple who love travelling and exploring new places. Originally from South Africa, we now live in Portugal and work online. I’m a sustainability manager and my husband works in real estate.
We’re happiest when we’re out in nature, hiking or discovering new regions and cultures. House sitting is the perfect way for us to combine travel with something we really miss — having pets around! We used to have two little dogs, Diesel (our Jack Russell) and Sherry (our Yorkshire Terrier), who were like children to us. Losing them left a big gap in our lives, so we now get our “animal fix” by caring for other people’s pets as if they were our own.
We’re non-smokers, have no kids, and we’re both tidy and respectful. I’m a bit of a neat freak and love leaving a place just as I found it (or maybe even a little cleaner!). So, if you choose us, your pets will get plenty of cuddles, walks, and belly rubs, and you’ll come home to happy animals and a spotless house.

Mattheus and Carina are a very pleasant, reliable and caring couple who house and pet sit for us in February/March 2026. Though there was a major crisis in Carina’s family which meant that she had to leave our house for a while, Mattheus staid and looked very well after our cat Jules, who needs cancer medication, and after our chickens. They gave us regular updates of the situation. They drove me to and from Montpellier airport on time, paid close attention to our Guest Guide, deep cleaned the house, and cut the grass in the garden. I came home to a tidy and spotless house. We can warmly recommend them and would be very happy to have them again as house sitters.

Carina and Mattheus did a wonderful job of taking care of our cats and house. The house impeccably kept. We really appreciated spending time over a meal with them and it was very interesting learning about life in South Africa. We left our cats and home completely reassured.
