Hazel

Vincent, from Germany and I, Hazel from the USA, are in our 30's and have been pet- sitting on and off for a couple years now. We were on Trustedhousitters but decided to try Nomador!

We completed 7 sits in the past: 7 cats and three dogs and some fish together, we have published our host's reviews on our photo album. We did one sit in England in 2023 and the rest in Germany. In Berlin we took care of an aggressive and reactive dog, near Frankfurt a very shy dog, and in England a very energetic dog. I, Hazel, worked with Wag in San Francisco, so I walked and did many sittings and hostings at their houses or at mine. I did this as a side job on and off for two years before moving to Germany. We are animal lovers and always want to make sure animals and pets are well taken care of in every environment.

I had a cat growing up, Emily and my first family dog was a golden retriever, Matto, whom of which I love and miss to death and Milo, my families maltese-cavapoo that we had to re-home due to a family passing. My family and I trained Matto since he was 3 months old and when we got Milo, Vincent and I trained him, it was a difficult and long journey but we succeeded. Repetition and positive reinforcement is key. I am very outdoorsy and very energetic i , like most dogs, need to go outside everyday and exercise. We are fast walkers, especially me, and are not shy of playing catch or jogging on a leash. My mother used to own birds, turtles and fish growing up so I have a lot of experience with house pets. Vincent and I are now considering homing a tiny dog in our apartment in Heidelberg.

We are also plant parents and have lots of experience maintaining plants, I took a Soils, Plant ID and Greenhouse classes at the city college in San Francisco. We have a mini greenhouse now with tomatoes and cucumbers.

We love doing these house sit's because we enjoy traveling and staying in places where locals live and avoid soulless hotels and tourists traps while enjoying the company of fluffy friends. We also think its an elegant solution to being able to have a pet and travel. We also have done Workaway volunteer positions on our travels and really enjoy really getting a feel for how a place and a country really are. We enjoy these alternative, hands-on traveling experiences since it has so much more meaning and feels a lot more fun.
