Our simple, traditional Malay-style house is just steps from a beautiful, largely tourist-free beach. It has two bedrooms (one used as an office), a sitting/dining room, kitchen, bathroom and verandah, plus a tropical garden. It's comfortable rather than luxurious, with good fibre internet.

Tourism and Leisure
This is real Malaysia rather than tourist Malaysia. Local markets, food and customs can be unfamiliar, English isn't always spoken, and Terengganu is a traditional Muslim state where modest dress is customary and alcohol and pork are difficult to find. In return, you'll discover wonderful food, friendly people and a fascinating culture.
The monsoon
Depending on your dates, expect periods of heavy tropical rain, strong winds, rough seas and occasional local flooding. Our house doesn't flood, although the garden sometimes does. Temperatures remain warm, with breaks of sunshine, and experienced surfers may love the waves.
If guaranteed sunshine is essential, this isn't for you. But if watching tropical storms roll across the South China Sea sounds exciting, you might love it!
Practicalities
Our trusted neighbour acts as our paid Property Manager, handling emergencies and anything beyond routine care.
We're in a relatively remote location, so reaching us requires some effort and travel at your own expense — typically two flights and an hour's taxi journey. We'll happily help with arrangements.
Could this be for you?
We'd love to hear from retired or semi-retired couples who are practical, confident travellers, curious about other cultures and, above all, devoted to cats. Experience travelling independently in Asia would be an advantage.

In exchange for caring for our cats, home and garden, you'll enjoy rent-free accommodation beside a beautiful tropical beach.
